Human beings, described "social animals", often demonstrate a built-in contradiction only when one's own body suffers, one realises the intensity of pain; only when one's own mind grieves one understands the density of sorrow;when the problem becomes one's own does one respond.
Come to Cheshire Home. The refuge of a group of human beings deprived of the pleasures of life by physical disability. Disabled from birth, disabled through diseases or accidents, disabled by the cruel twist of destiny;the inmates have myriad reasons to recount.
Thirty six years have gone by since the Thiruvananthapuram Cheshire Home was founded.Thirty Six years of caring for the physically challenged and the terminally ill . Thirty Six years of selfless, dedicated service. Made possible with the support of the Royal House of Travancore , the Archdiocess of Thiruvananthapuram and a handful of non-resident Keralites. And sustained year , after year ,thanks good-hearted people who believe that it is only in giving that we receive.
It gives free admission, accommodation, food, clothes, medical care, nursing and physiotherapy to the differently abled.
Today up to thirty six people can be cared for in this Home, set in a quiet ,beautiful locale right in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram.
